An implant is a small titanium post placed in the jaw bone where a tooth is missing. Once it bonds with the bone, a crown is fixed on top. It looks, feels and works like a natural tooth, and neighbouring teeth are left untouched.
Is it right for you?
- One or more missing teeth
- Loose or uncomfortable dentures
- Adults with healthy gums and enough bone (checked by X-ray or scan)
What happens, step by step
- Consultation, X-ray or 3D scan and a written plan
- Implant placed under local anaesthesia
- Healing while the implant bonds with the bone
- Impression or scan for the final crown
- Crown fixed and bite adjusted
Aftercare
- Soft food for the first few days
- Do not smoke; it slows healing and can cause failure
- Brush and clean around the implant daily; come for regular check-ups
Questions
How long does an implant last?
With good cleaning and check-ups, implants can last many years, often decades.
Am I too old for implants?
Age alone is rarely a problem. General health, gum health and bone matter more. We check these before planning.
